Before you apply:

Before you fill out a GMC Church or Clergy Application please read below:

1. We urge both church and clergy to apply as soon as possible in order to have enough time to process your information.

2. Church and clergy names separating in 2024 will be made public after July 1, 2024.

3. All licensed and ordained clergy applying to the GMCofSC, including United Methodists, as well as other denominations will be contacted by the South Carolina Committee on Ministry to schedule a meeting before final approval.

4. Clergy Applications also include a background check, sometimes background checks take a little longer.

5. Churches and Clergy may choose any effective date on their application. For South Carolina we suggest if you are among the churches being voted on at the 2024 Annual Conference you may want to choose July 1, 2024 as the effective date.

6. Churches joining the Global Methodist Church: the following motion must be adopted by a simple majority at a congregational meeting (you will need to include this statement along with your minutes when you submit the GMC church application):

“I move that _____________ Church become a member congregation of the Global Methodist Church, that it affirms and endorses the doctrinal standards (Part One), Social Witness (Part Two), and church governance of the Global Methodist Church as set forth in its Transitional Book of Doctrines and Discipline, and agrees to be accountable to such standards, witness, and governance. Our leadership and trustees are authorized to take all actions necessary to implement this motion.”

A person authorized by the church must then complete and submit a digital church application. As part of completing the digital church application, you must upload the minutes of the meeting at which the motion above was adopted. Church applications can only be submitted using the digital church application. If you have questions about the church application process, please email applications@globalmethodist.org.
