CONFERENCE
The Peru Annual Conference
What is the Peru Annual Conference? The Global Methodist Church is currently organizing in Peru. This is an emerging annual conference, with local churches actively choosing to align and the annual conference in its organizational period. The Peruvian church will be composed mostly of churches that are transferring from one Methodist denomination into the GMC.
How will the GMC of SC support Peru? Our relationship with the Peru conference will be primarily relational. While we will offer a portion of conference missions dollars to Peru, our primary partnership will be through sending missions trips to partner in worship, engaging in local mission projects, trainings, and sharing faith. Local churches in SC may also select one-time projects to help fund in Peru. The goal will be to sponsor conference-wide missions trips, as well as encourage local churches to connect and organize trips where appropriate.
What is the time-frame for signing an MOU with Peru? Peru’s Annual Conference has been slower to organize compared with the Oasis Conference. The Missions Collective seeks to send an exploratory team to Peru in the latter half of 2025 to meet with local leaders, visit missions and churches, and prayerfully discern details of a partnership. The proposal before the 2025 Behold Annual Conference will be to bless continued exploration in anticipation of a possible MOU and partnership at the 2026 Behold. It is possible that missions trips and church engagement may be possible prior to the signing of an MOU pending successful exploration at the Missions Collective’s discernment.
